The Egypt–Latin America Businessmen Foundation Concludes Its Successful Participation in the International Symposium on “Capacity Building for Investment Promotion in Belt and Road Countries”

The Egypt–Latin America Businessmen Foundation concluded its successful participation in the international symposium on “Enhancing Capacities for Attracting Investment in Belt and Road Initiative Countries,” hosted by the People’s Republic of China from September 9 to 29, 2025.
The event brought together delegations from six countries—Egypt, Nigeria, South Africa, Namibia, Guyana, and Uzbekistan—under the auspices of the Ministry of Commerce of China and organized by the International Center for Economic and Technical Cooperation in Fujian Province.

This symposium was held within the framework of strengthening international cooperation between China and Belt and Road countries. It served as a high-level platform for exchanging expertise in economic development, investment promotion, and institutional capacity building. Representing the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Foundation joined a diverse official delegation that included several economic and research institutions, reflecting Egypt’s active role in supporting international cooperation initiatives and contributing to shaping the contours of the emerging global economy.

The symposium featured a comprehensive academic and training program that extended over three weeks. It included interactive lectures, practical workshops, and open dialogue sessions with Chinese officials and international economic and investment experts. The discussions covered key topics such as China’s experience in attracting foreign direct investment, the government’s role in supporting the business environment, strategies to stimulate the private sector, and the development of legal and institutional frameworks to facilitate international investment.

The program also included an important practical component, featuring field visits to several leading industrial zones in Fujian Province—such as the Ruike Pharmaceutical Industrial Zone and the Quanzhou Special Economic Zone—in addition to tours of companies specializing in biotechnology, green industries, and e-commerce. These visits provided participants with a unique opportunity to observe China’s experience in integrating industrial innovation with environmental sustainability, offering a model that could inspire the development of Egyptian and Arab industries.

Another highlight of the symposium was a series of cultural and educational exchange sessions aimed at fostering mutual understanding among the peoples of participating countries. These included introductory Chinese language lessons and visits to prominent cultural and heritage sites, such as the Quanzhou Maritime Museum and Dianchi Lake in Kunming, reinforcing people-to-people and cultural diplomacy as tools for economic rapprochement.

In her statement, Ms. Eliane Boutros, Founding Member and Executive Director of the Egypt–Latin America Businessmen Foundation, emphasized the organization’s belief in the importance of building integrated networks of economic cooperation based on knowledge exchange and technology transfer. She announced that the Foundation is preparing to launch a joint initiative to promote economic dialogue among businessmen in the three regions, which will include specialized investment forums, vocational training programs, and joint development projects.

At the conclusion of the symposium, participants agreed to strengthen future communication through the establishment of an electronic cooperation network connecting business institutions across Belt and Road countries, and to exchange economic studies and successful development experiences.
The Egypt–Latin America Businessmen Foundation expressed its deep appreciation to the Chinese government for its excellent organization and the richness of the symposium’s academic content, affirming that this experience marks a new starting point for expanding economic and cultural cooperation among Egypt, China, and Latin America, contributing to the creation of sustainable and mutually beneficial development partnerships.
